Paulina Stróż (Poland) – Iyengar yoga for physical and emotional health
A comprehensive workshop of yoga according to B.K.S. Iyengar for those practising yoga regularly and for beginners with little or no experience in asanas (body postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises). Iyengar Yoga is a method that allows to adjust the practice to your individual skills, your level of advancement and your limitations.
The workshop will focus on twists and backbends in order to make our spine and our inner organs younger, supple, more alive and empowered. We will make preparation for performing backbends in order to open the space around the heart, and to open emotional and spiritual space as well. Behind our sternum there is a factory of immune cells which are produced by thymus gland which normally functions only until the puberty. Iyengar proved that thymus gland can be reactivated again at any that thymus gland can be reactivated age, especially by performing backbends. Finally, we will relax in savasana and do pranayamas for calming down our nervous system and get in touch with ourselves on the deep level.
Students need mat, kork or wooden block and yoga belt. Workshop will be held in english/croatian/slovenian/
Paulina Stróż, M.Ed. and a certified B.K.S. Iyengar yoga teacher (Junior III; preparing to Senior I) holding a diploma of The Iyengar Yoga Memorial Ramamani Institute in Pune where she has been practicing every two years since 2003 under the guidance of B. K. S. Iyengar and his children Gita and Prashant with a desire to maintain the purity of the tradition.
She has been into Iyengar yoga since 1995 and regularly improves her practice by participating annually in various workshops in Poland and abroad, learning from the most qualified teachers, such as: Faeq & Corin Biria (France), Lois Steinberg (USA) – a specialist in medical techniques of Iyengar yoga, Ritta Keller (Germany). Over the last years, the teaching of Fr. Joe Pereira (Senior, Mumbai, India) has become of particular importance to her. Paulina invites Fr. Pereira (49 years of yoga practice with Guruji Iyengar) to Poland every year to The Iyengar Yoga Convention in Wroclaw and she also travels to India every year to stay in direct contact with him.
In 2013 Paulina completed another level of teaching course, passed her exams with Ritta Keller and was given Junior II degree. In the exam session in 2015 she got another diploma with Junior III degree on it. Currently she is preparing for Senior Level examinations.
